Departmental Leadership & Support
As department head, Doug is responsible for department-wide program direction/development/assessment and budget development/management and professional staff supervision & development, and works closely with the program teams responsible for Housing & Residential Programs, Conferences & External Events, and Student & Intra-Campus Mail.
As department deputy head, Mike is responsible for professional staff supervision & development and works closely with the program team responsible for Student Centers, Organizations, & Events.
Ivy provides department-wide support for budgetary & financial paperwork & processes and manages all departmental supplies, equipment, and office spaces.
Program Team: Housing & Residential Programs
The Housing & Residential Programs staff oversee undergraduate student housing assignment processes throughout the academic year and the summer, including lotteries/room draws, placements, data management, and room key distribution. They also oversee the upperclass residential life program (the Neighborhoods), including the selection, training, and ongoing supervision of the four student Neighborhood Directors and the 26 student Housing Coordinators and their community development & programming responsibilities.
Program Team: Student Centers, Organizations, & Events
The Student Centers, Organizations, & Events staff provide regular advisement & support to RSO’s, College Council, All-Campus Entertainment (ACE), Senior Class Officers, the Yearbook, the Lyceum Dinner program, & Williams Motorcoach, and offer student event logistics & support for RSO’s which fall under College Council’s purview. They oversee the Leading Minds First-Year EphVenture program, Frosh Leadership Weekend (FLW), the Purple Key Fair for student organizations, the Student Jamboree, the semesterly Super Stressbusters program, Life After Williams programs, and work collaboratively with Athletics on Intramurals and Club Sports. They also provide workshops on leadership development, group budget & financial management, and host/server & TIPS training.
They manage the campus-wide room reservations system (EMS), and are responsible for the day-to-day management of the Paresky Center, Goodrich Hall, Greylock Hall 2nd floor, and Dodd Commons, including usage parameters and prioritization, arranging for tech support & staffing, furnishings, posters & banners, and vendors. They are also responsible for programming at The Log, the Goodrich Coffee Bar, and Williams After Dark.
Program Team: Conferences & External Events
The Conferences & External Events team manage the Conferences program, working closely with clients and campus partners to execute camps and conferences on the Williams campus during the summer period. They are also the starting point for anyone proposing a non-Williams event or program to take place on campus property at any time of the year, including weddings.
Program Team: Student & Intra-Campus Mail Services
The Student & Intra-Campus Mail Services staff manage student mail services, which includes first class mail receiving & distribution to student mailboxes, package receiving & distribution to students, and all correlating data management for box assignments and package notifications to students. They also provide daily intra-campus mail service between campus offices/departments and deliver departmental print jobs for Auxiliary Services.
