Many parts of the Williams campus slow down or close during the summer. Although services are modified/reduced compared to the academic year, critical services & support are still available.
House Coordinators (HCs), led by the Summer Residential Director, are available to assist you with general (non-emergency) housing questions & concerns, and will be providing snacks, programs and social activities on and off-campus over the course of the summer. Campus Safety (413.597.4444) is available 24/7 throughout the summer.
The Dean’s Office (Hopkins 2nd floor, 413.597.4171) is open during the summer and there is always a Dean On-Call if you need one. They can also help you make connections with counselors & other support. If you need a Dean outside of regular office hours, contact Campus Safety (413.597.4444).
Emergency building maintenance issues should be reported immediately to Campus Safety by calling 413.597.4444. All non-emergency building-maintenance or repair inquiries should be sent directly to Facilities through an online work order, or by calling 413.597.2486.
Limited free storage is available to returning international students & returning financial aid students who are here for some/all of the summer, coordinated through the Jessica Park Mailroom in Paresky. Information can be found at this link.
If you need storage and don’t qualify for the free storage provided by the College (or if you do qualify but need more storage than the College provides to you for free) you will need to contract directly with a storage provider at your own cost.
Students living in campus housing during the summer are required to be on a meal plan. Dining Services offers a 50-meal block and 75-meal block (more information can be found at this link). Contact Dining Services (413.597.2121) for more information or with questions about the meal plan options, or contact the Office of Student Accounts (413.597.4396) with billing questions/issues.

Every employee of the college, including students who work over the summer, are required to complete U.S. Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, before working at Williams. If you are already on student payroll, you do not need to complete a new I-9 form.
The Form I-9 requires specific, original identification documents. Examples of acceptable documents are a Passport, Birth Certificate, or Social Security card. A complete list of acceptable documents may be found on the last page of the form. All ID presented must be original; photocopies are not legally acceptable. Employees may complete the I-9 online in the Office of Human Resources, or before they arrive. However, ALL employees must present their identification documents IN PERSON.
If you have accepted an off-campus internship for the summer (e.g. ASIP), your I-9 form MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE LEAVING campus at the end of the semester. These forms take just a few minutes to complete and may be completed during business hours in The Office of Human Resources (M-F 8:00am-5:00pm). As of Tuesday, May 21, 2019, most student mailboxes will be closed for the summer. All First Class Mail will be forwarded to the HOME ADDRESS listed in PeopleSoft – forwarding ends on August 19, 2019. Students are responsible for updating their address.
Graduating Seniors’ mailboxes will close on June 2, 2019.
Students Here during the Summer
To request to continue mail delivery to the Jessica Park Mailroom in Paresky during the summer, log into PeopleSoft and navigate to:
Self Service > Campus Life > Mailroom Services.
Deadline to do this in Peoplesoft is Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
(After May 21, you will need to email Debby Kopala directly – be SURE to include your Williams ID number and your Paresky Mailbox number.)
Any requests for summer mail delivery made after June 14, 2019, will incur a LATE PROCESSING FEE of $25.
- All requests (except for graduates, see the next bullet) must be for the ENTIRE summer as the Mailroom is unable to accommodate shorter time periods.
- Graduates who are working for the college this summer may request to keep their mail boxes open until AUGUST 1, 2019. At that time boxes will close and assigned to incoming First Years.
The Jessica Park Mailroom Window shifts to Summer Hours as of Monday, May 20, 2019. Window hours are Monday-Friday, 9am – 4pm. Closed Saturdays, Sundays, Memorial Day (Monday, May 27), and Independence Day (Thursday, July 4).

All students living on campus for the summer must go to Campus Safety to register their vehicles for summer parking. A summer decal will be issued. There is a $25 registration fee for summer parking. The Thompson/Poker Lot is the designated area for summer student parking. All spaces in the Parking Garage are reserved for the Williamstown Theatre Festival attendees. Please remember that if you park in other lots, on the grass, in a handicap space, in a fire lane, or in faculty/staff parking spaces, you run the risk of being ticketed – minimum of $50.00 and can be as high as $201.00 depending upon the violation.

Northern Berkshire Campus of Berkshire Medical Center (BMC)
Berkshire Medical Center’s Northern Berkshire Campus provides numerous outpatient services for the North Berkshire community, including 24-hour emergency care, outpatient imaging, laboratory draw station, outpatient orthopedic surgery, endoscopy and more. It is located at the former North Adams Regional Hospital, 71 Hospital Avenue, North Adams.
Walk-In Urgent Care Clinics
The clinics will typically provide care to patients with minor illnesses and injuries, including but not limited to:
- colds & flu
- eye & ear infections
- pulled & strained muscles
- cuts & scrapes
- bites, skins, & rashes
- stomach aches
- and other conditions.
Both SVMC Express Care and Berkshire Health Urgent Care clinics can test for common illnesses, provide imaging services like x-ray, give some vaccinations & flu shots, and conduct sports & school physicals. No appointment is necessary. Most insurance is accepted.

Summer Non-Emergency Transportation Services
- This free service is dedicated to non-emergency medical transportation only and will be provided throughout the summer (24 hours/day)
- Students should call (413) 597 – 4545 to request a ride (it is strongly encouraged you provide 24 hours to insure the vehicle will be available at the time requested)
- Be prepared to provide:
- Your name
- A call back number
- The street address and name of the business/clinic where you have your appointment
- The time of your appointment
- All rides leave from and return to Hopkins Hall / Campus Safety & Security – no other locations are permitted
- The non-emergent medical transportation service is continually responding to calls and transporting students, so there may be wait times to return to campus. Discuss this directly with your driver so you can plan accordingly.
Q: What medical services are eligible for the NEMT?
A: Prescription pickups, doctor’s appointments, physical therapy appointments, dental visits, urgent care visits, x-rays, blood tests, etc. are examples of the types of eligible services. You can also call for pickup if you were taken to a hospital within the service range for an emergency and need a ride back to campus after discharge.
Q: What is the range of the service?
A: The service includes major portions of Berkshire and Bennington Counties – as far south as Pittsfield and as far north as SVMC. If you aren’t sure if your destination qualifies – just ask!
Q: Why are all pickups/drop-offs at Hopkins Hall for the summer and not Thompson Health Center?
A: Thompson Health Center is closed over the summer and Campus Safety & Security (located in Hopkins Hall) will be activating the service until the start of the academic year
Q: Will I be able to use this service to pick up my prescriptions?
A: Yes, but only at the Williamstown Rite Aid (Walgreens Pharmacy) in Colonial Plaza (212 Main Street, Williamstown). Be sure to have prescriptions sent there and not another pharmacy.
Q: Can I bring a friend with me?
A: In order to make sure we have enough space in the van for people using the service we ask that you not bring a friend unless it is a necessity.
